To connect to the CapWIN System via the CapWIN Mobile Software Clients, each user requires a:

• Laptop, PDA, or desktop computer;
• Connection to the CapWIN System.

Access can take the form of a hard wired connection from each network to CapWIN's network Operations Center in Greenbelt, MD and/or a wireless connection such as 802.11x, CDPD, CDMA (1xRTT, EDVO), GSM (GPRS), 800MHz or other wireless infrastructure.  A connection to the CapWIN Operations Center can also be achieved via the public Internet.  However, law enforcement access to criminal justice databases is not permitted via the public Internet.

The minimum requirements for the CapWIN Mobile Client:

• Connection to CapWIN;
• 512MB RAM (1GB or higher RAM recommended);
• 1GB Hard disk space (to support GIS Mapping);
• Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher;
• Microsoft .Net 2.0 Framework .Net 3.5;
• CapWIN Common Mobile Public Safety Application Software Suite (CoMPASS).

The minimum requirements for the CapWIN Handheld Client:

• Connection to CapWIN;
• 128MB of RAM recommended;
• 2002 version or Higher of Internet Explorer;
• Windows Mobile 5.0 PocketPC and later.
