CapWIN Community –

From time to time I plan to share with you interesting stories and facts from CapWIN.

Today it comes in the form of an email from Deputy First Class Robert Trautman of the Worcester County Sheriff's Office sent to F/Sgt. D.W. Sharp, Assistant Commander Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack (and his reply back…)

Subject: CapWIN success story

Dave,

Just wanted to touch base and share some positive interaction with your staff.... Over the past several weeks we've had the CapWIN Chat Room "Worcester Nights" open.... Having Deputies, Troopers and BPD officers in this room communicating has been very successful with information sharing.... This room has provided a way to network and share call information between one another since our CAD systems are not linked.

I've personally noticed a more effective, cooperative effort at working together and lending a helping hand.... Calls are being answered sooner as units that is closer to the incident has noticed it on CapWIN and have taken the initiative to self-dispatch to the call for service.

This is a WIN, WIN for all involved and certainly the COMMUNITY... This is a new concept and seems to be working well however not all are aware that this room exists.... There is also a room "Worcester Days" that our guys are using.

PLEASE feel free to pass the word and encourage your PCOs, Dos and Troopers to join... It's a new initiative that is working.

Thanks for your time and if you'd like to call feel free.

Bob

The below e-mail was recently received from Deputy Bob Trautman.  Like many of you, he feels the CapWIN system is invaluable when used to its potential.  Please continue to use CapWIN keeping in mind its only one tool among many at your disposal.  We already enjoy an amicable working relationship with the Sheriff's office and Berlin Police Department and CapWIN is clearly helping to solidify our alliances.

Great to see everyone working together!
