Production Release of CapWIN Client Version 2.1.5.3

Agency Administrators –

**** NOTICE – PRODUCTION RELEASE OF CAPWIN CLIENT VERSION 2.1.5.3 ****

On Thursday evening, December 18, 2008, version 2.1.5.3 of the CapWIN V2 client will be released to all CapWIN users. This release marks the first of several major enhancements to the CapWIN system. This update contains a large amount of data (map files) that will download in the background as usual. Please note that the client startup time will be temporarily longer than normal as the update files are “queued” for background download. Once loaded, users can continue to use the CapWIN client as normal as updates continue to download. Once all downloads are complete (which may take more than one user session), the updated CapWIN Client will be automatically installed. Following this one-time installation, users should now have the 2.1.5.3 Client version.

Please review the Release Notes (pdf) for this version and a short overview of CapWIN’s new Beta Mapping capabilities (pdf).

This new release is part of a series of significant enhancements to the CapWIN client as part of our implementation of the Intelligent Transportation System grant. Additional enhancements will be released in throughout 2009.

As always, please contact the Help Desk at 301.614.3730 if you have any problems with the CapWIN client during this update process.
